Review of Coalbrookdale Severn stove

Superb Severn

Hi , I have a large conservatory that goes into a open plan dining room, and kitchen. We had a Esse Dragon mk2 stove which was ornate and beautiful, but even fully stoked it was struggling to heat such a large area. I looked on an internet site and found a Severn ( non boiler ) model for sale at a great price so as it says it's a 15kw stove twice the output of the Esse , so I bought it . It arrived on a pallet, so after getting it into my garage I started to refurbish it . I hand sanded it , fitted new seals and glass and polished it with stove polish . Got the stove fitted and tested out last week Wow the heat is fantastic, the conservatory is 37x15 and although it wasn't too cold outside the temp with the stove on low setting hit 35 degrees. I used excel smokeless and with the stove temp at 500 it stayed at the temp for 10 hrs without refilling . It's fantastic , built like a tank, a British made quality stove when quality meant quality . Buy one while you can before everyone finds out about how good they are !!!

Stove expert replied: As the replacement stove has twice the output of the Esse you should notice a marked improvement in the heat being generated, the area that you are heating is large and therefore the Esse may not have been the correct size product for the space. Glad to hear the replacement is working well and producing the desired space heating. Enjoy.
