Review of Coalbrookdale Severn stove

Coalbrookedale Severn Upgrade?

Had the back boiler version fitted 20+ years ago and still going strong. It heats the water for domestic and radiators Oct-May, rarely goes out over the winter. However, the airwash system over the glasses is useless, as someone has mentioned, and it would be better with secondary burn system. but I guess thats a modern improvement Coalbrookedale didn't consider. Overall a solid piece of cast iron does the job and if you don't burn the bars out using PET coal. Has anyone successfully modified the boiler type of stove to improve the airwash? Wondered about trying the sliding "door" idea you see on the non boiler /room heater type.

Otherwise will be looking for oil fired boiler to replace the Severn. wife is fed up with ash/dust. Any suggestions welcome.

Stove expert replied: Boiler stoves will have changed dramatically over the last 20 years and the technology will have improved to allow for clean glass, more efficient heating of the water etc. What great service from this stove.
