Review of Coalbrookdale Severn stove

Coalbrookdale Severn multi-burner with boiler

This is the second Severn I have owned now in 15 years. At a cost of £600 for the first one it was a lovely centre-piece for the room. After approx ten years it developed a leak at the back on the 45% bend where the ash pans go under. The cost to replace the water jacket would have been £800 so we bought a new one at a cost of £1200. Having had this one now for about 7 years it also has just sprung a leak in the same place. Not priced up a replacement water jacket yet but I'm not a happy chappie with this high-end stove

Stove expert replied: As this is the second stove to leak in 15years I would advise having a thorough investigation into the installation and operating process of this unit as there may be something that is causing these premature leaks. (using wet fuel, no low limit stats, a direct cylinder, spring water, no short periods of fast burn or other causes that are attributing to this). Understandably disappointing.

Wondering where you sourced the replacement boiler assembly? Our Severn has developed the same problem of a leak and we need to repair or replace it. Much appreciated
