Review of Coalbrookdale Darby stove

We bought one of the first Darby's imported in the US--1982 I think--I was told we were getting the eleventh one sold here. It's a handsome stove and a joy to gather around. Our dogs have always been big fans. Burning it good and hot cleans the windows pretty well, and rubbing them with a wad of newspaper before starting up in the morning can be a good idea--seeing the flames burning merrily is one of its charms. With the doors wide it's a small fireplace. It's so massive that it holds heat for hours. Lift the top and roast chestnuts. I have an old Jotul too--great stove but nothing like as much fun as the Darby.
