Review of Clearview vision 500 stove

Not worth the high cost.

Having lived with our new stove for about 5 months, My honest felling is one of disappointment. The Vision 500 is not a cheap stove. It is in the higher price bracket, and in my opinion over rated and over priced. We were replacing an old and faithful Cotswold stove that has given good service for over ten years. The main reason to change was because of style. This due to having a high canopy and we wanting a flat top. Unfortunately the vision is either giving a beautiful rolling flame effect, or just black lifeless heat. I have closely followed the instructions, and of course I am using completely dry two year seasoned wood, but I am still unable to achieve a slow burn with flame. Worst of all, is the lack of seal between the fire box and the outside world. If the wind is blowing across the chimney cowl and the fire is not lit, then we have the constant strong smell of smoke in the room. Our old stove, even though I had replaced the door seal a couple of times due to not being able to adjust the door pressure, never had this fault. Sorry we chose the Vision 500.
