Review of Clearview vision 500 stove

Best stove on the market

It is 14 years since we installed our Clearview Vision 500 stove to heat our 3mtr x 7mtr living room, and heat the domestic water and 2 small radiators from the small back boiler. In the time that we have had the stove, it has given Stirling service and has been no trouble whatsoever. We use it as a multifuel stove and burn seasoned logs or household coal normally, with the occasional use of broken pallets to get the heat up quickly after lighting it (0 to 400 degrees in 15 mins!)The glass never gets smoked up as we quickly learned how to manage the airwash to maintain the ''clearview'', and the only maintenance that has had to be done was the replacement of the door rope a couple of months ago. The top baffle plate is still as good as the day we commissioned the stove, and the side fire plates show only slight wear. It was suggested to us that household coal should not be used on the stove, but it is so efficient at burning, that there is never any soot in the flue when it has its annual clean. The stove was slightly more expensive then others that claimed to be on a par with Clearview, but ''you get what you pay for'' as they say. I would recommend the Vision 500 to anyone.

Stove expert replied: Most closed appliances (Stoves) use smokeless fuel and not household coal this is due to coal being a dirtier fuel, it burns with a longer flame and can distort internal parts. Being a dirtier fuel is often prevents the airwash from working effectively. Great long term service from this appliance.
