Review of Clearview vision 500 stove

Using the Vision 500

Richard Seager

Well I spoke about the Clearview Vision 500 back in August and after a really cold winter here is some more information.

Without a doubt this is an incredible log burner which chucks out an amazing amount of heat. Since reviewing the Clearview Vision 500 I have had quite a few e-mails about it. I have had 7 people tell me they have bought the Vision 500 and how pleased they are with it. I have never burnt coal in it or tried to keep it in overnight, but our friends have used coal and said it stayed in overnight. My wife and I went out and I stacked it up before we went and it just had a few red embers left in when we got home 7 hours later. To be honest we never intended to be out that long so I was surprised to see it had not gone out. I put a couple more logs on, opened the spinner and away it went. There is no doubt in my mind that Clearview make the best log burner or are at the top of the list.

I had a lady email me and she said, ( I can't get enough heat out of mine, it doesn't seem to get hot enough. The reason for this was she was not burning well seasoned wood. Burning non seasoned wood is trying to set fire to a wet cardboard box, It wont work...!!! Since she has used better seasoned wood she can't believe how hot it gets. Lighting a log burner is like learning about anything, you must read the instructions. You can't just open the door and chuck any old wood on there and expect to get best out of it. As for people saying it's hard to light, I don't understand where they are coming from. I have lit mine with 3 sheets of newspaper and 4 pieces of kindling. It comes up to heat around 400 degrees in around 20 mins if used correctly. Burn only well seasoned wood, learn how the controls work properly, read the information supplied, and if you are still not sure contact Clearview they are so helpful.
