OVER RATED

Sorry I put one of these stoves in my living room . I have had to stop using it as the smoke is pouring out of everywhere ! I had to take the battery out of the smoke detector in the hallway and it is making my asthma worse . I shall take it out and put back my open fire . Very expensive mistake !

Stove expert replied: Please get the installation checked as smoke should not come back into the room, it implies that the flue draw is not adequate. This can be overcome and certainly needs further investigation. Please put the batteries back in the smoke detector and make sure you have a carbon monoxide alarm, these are for your safety and should not be compromised by removal of batteries as they are warning you of a problem.

For reference this customer bought the stove from us, decided to fit it himself with the help of a plumber. It is vented off the back, with a horizontal run, has a domestic boiler fitted with the cylinder a considerable distance away, and the flexible lining was fitted but not insulated correctly. To compound this the quality of the fuel is suspect, as he has removed a considerable deposit out of the flue in a relatively short time since last swept (which he does himself too). Ironically the stove has been performing very well for nearly two years, but since the last escapade from a restricted flue, then apparently the STOVE is at fault. Reading the reviews from clients that have followed manufacturers instructions on installation and burn the correct fuel will be testimony to how good these products are.

We have a Clearview 400 installed about 2 months ago. I love the concept but not the smoke. Judging from all the positive comments, it looks as if we have a problem rather than that all these stoves give off smoke. Today smoke seemed to be pouring out from all over the place (including the chimney); the glass is black. Will get back to the place where we bought it from (they installed it for us).
