Review of Clearview Pioneer 400 stove

Very pleased

Oliver

Expensive stove, but very, very good. Amazingly easy to light. Very controllable. Goes from almost out, to furnace, to almost out again (or anywhere in between) in the space of a minute.

The glass never smokes up permanently; sometimes some soot collects on it when starting up from cold but it burns off quickly when the stove is hot.

We don't try to keep it going all night but often it will re-light in the morning just with a handful of kindling and turning the bottom air on full. The blowtorch effect when you do this is amazing.

We empty the ash tray about once every two weeks. We find the ash in the grate sometimes compacts and restricts the air flow, so it is a good idea to give it a stir with a bit of kindling to loosen it before lighting the stove. Maybe this depends on the type of wood you use. I have no idea what we use; it is whatever arrives on the supplier's lorry.

I have thought carefully, but I cannot think of any disadvantage of this stove other than the price. However, in my opinion it is worth the money.

I definitely recommend this stove.

Stove expert replied: Empty the ash before it gets too close to the grate as this can shorten the life expectancy if them.
