Review of Clearview Pioneer 400 stove

This stove exceeded my expectations

After a lot of research I eventually installed a smoke control version of this stove together with a 316 SS liner insulated with Leca in September 2012. The stove is well designed and very simple to operate and maintain. The viewing window is a good size for a small stove. It burns very cleanly and is controllable. It is used all day and throughout the evening and its burn rate is a 40 litre builders tub of seasoned hardwood logs per 8 hours. It kicks out plenty of heat and has significantly reduced my central heating gas consumption. If overnight burning is important to you then this stove may disappoint because the smoke control feature limits its turndown capability. That said this stove is so easy to light I’m not sure why anyone would want to leave a log smouldering in it all night anyway. Overall I’m very satisfied and would definitely buy it again.
