Review of Clearview Pioneer 400 stove
Can't sustain heat efficient burning temperature.
We have had a Clearview 650 for years and after some messing about about have learned its foibles. We run it 24/7, 9 months a year with really well seasoned oak and we are generally very pleased. So now we have also bought a Pioneer 400 after many many excellent reviews seen on-line.
Sadly it just does not seem possible to sustain it at the 400 degrees F efficient burning temp for any length of time unless both the swivel wheel and wash lever are deployed together. This really should not be necessary as it means the wood burns way too fast. The Clearview he 650 air wash function is excellent. Could this be a chimney height issue? Anyone know the minimum chimney dimensions required? Stoves Expert Replied: Certainly worth exploring the chimney height to see if this is causing you problems.- Respond
