Review of Charnwood Island II stove

Charnwood

We had this wood burner installed in 2019 before moving in . It has been used now for 3 winters .

Since using it continuously in the cold weather lots of cracks in the design are showing up some literally .

The fire bricks at the back have cracked in the first year .

The metal strip that holds to roof of the fire box bricks fell down in its second year of constant use,

The glass door clips are always falling out .

The riddler has just started to not work the tool is not locating to move the grate .

The tool for carrying the ashes out is very precarious and difficult to use safely .

The door has a great handle but you need not to have to put protection on To open both doors I use a stick it’s not practical to load large logs one side .

The very positive and good thing is it burns beautifully is very easy to light and the fire looks good in our Victorian old school .

We will be needing one for our own house but it will not be a charnwood .

We feel very let down by these problems . We have both grown up and had ourselves 4 previous wood burners which cost a fraction of the price of this one . Yes they were not so controllable with burning and yes a fire brick cracked slightly but not in pieces line this one .

I write this in the hope charnwood will consider the problems with this design .

Don’t usually bother with reviews but feel so dissatisfied with this fire .
