Review of Charnwood Country 4 stove
Very Happy
We fitted this very smart little woodburner about 3 months ago & up to date we are very happy with just a couple of slight niggles,\nThis is our first woodburner, we have always had open fires but as we have access to free wood along with the ever rising price of coal we decided on a change & looked at all options from the cheap £250 imports to the £800+ top of the range models finally deciding on the Charnwood (woodburning without the multi fuel option) at around £500.\nThe build quality & finish seem to be very good & we chose this model because of its classic good looks & large glass area (being used to a open fire we wanted to see as much fire as possible),\nLighting it has proved to be very easy & it has not let us down yet,\nits very easy to control with the top bar & if you need to get it going from its slumber quickly just open the lower wheel slightly for a couple of minutes & its soon back to life,\nfrom being first lit it can get our 19ft x 14ft room warm in about a hour on a cold winters day which is impressive as we have no other form of heat in that room & if we have it working well we need to open the door as it gets to hot!\nAs I say there are a couple of slight niggles, we seem to clean the glass most days as unless its working with the top adjustment fully open the glass always gets dirty,\nThere is a tool for lifting out the inner plate for cleaning (which is easy to do by hand) but no tool for the lower wheel opening & closing (which is not easy by hand when its hot)\nI have kept it in overnight a couple of times with no problem but we are usually late to bed & up early so that probably makes it easier,\nOverall its never going to replace the feeling a open coal fire can give but its very good at what it does & its far more controllable & economical (& safer) than a open fire & we are very happy with the price, looks & ease of use.\n\n
Stove expert replied: The niggles are very minor and may be down to the moisture content of the wood which should be checked and hopefully would improve the necessity for glass cleaning!
