Review of Charnwood Country 4 stove

Warped backplate

Billy Bones 9 years ago

Initially loved this little stove but after a few months the backplate warped to such an extent it sheared the head off the holding bolt. I know I am by no means the only one to have had this problem. When I contacted Charnwood they said it was my fault for not having a thermometer and for running it too hot. No mention was made in the stove guide of the need for a thermometer or warnings given about running it too hot. It seems a design flaw as it is not up to the job, further evidenced by the number of people who have had the same problem and the fact it has since been redesigned says it all. Charnwoods attitude was very poor and for this reason alone I would not buy again.
