Review of Charnwood Country 4 stove

Perfect litte stove

This is a cracking little stove.

I was first introduced to a woodburner a few years ago when living in Bath. Surrounded by a lot of forest, my new home for the year was heated by a stove.

I believe that it was Charnwood but a large two doored stove which kicked out a great deal of heat, good for a very large room in a house built in the 1600's. It was a listed building with incredibly thick stone walls which took forever to heat. Central heating wasn't cut out for the job.

Cut to a few years later, I've moved into a 1930's home based on the outskirts of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. The house had a closed fireplace, but we decided to open it back up again and install a woodburner.

The space that we had was minimal and which could only allow a single doored stove. With my wife wanting a white/ivory stove this narrowed the choices down a great deal. Having looked at several, listening to X person in one shop then another person at a different stores we were very confused.

Until I found whatstove. Having been allowed to research what we wanted, we ended up with the Charnwood country 4. Having been a previous Charnwood user, I knew that this was a decent and reliable brand to have.

It's a small stove but it does kick out very good heat.

Easy to use, I am able to start the fire within minutes and get it going. I can't believe that how easy it is to start. Impressed with the build quality. Sadly I have a little interest into metal fabrication and can see that it is well put together and the finish is great. My wife loved the look of it.

The cost was very reasonable, having visited the local sellers, they wanted in excess of £900 for this little stove and had a very long lead time in getting one but having rung up different stores nationwide.

Everything just works on this stove as it's meant to. No hassles, just gets the job done.

British made on the Isle of Wight is a bonus, it shouldn't mean ringing around to get parts when needed.

We haven't tried it overnight yet but we just leave it to do it's thing and in the morning it's a little warm. Warm enough to touch without any injuries.

In a few years, we hope to build an large extension to our house. We've got the idea to build it with an external chimney to install another Charnwood stove in the new living room.

I've actually stopped turning the dial on the central heating since installing!
