Charnwood Country 16b

We fitted our Charnwood 2 weeks ago. While this endorsement might be a little premature I felt I had to add a review. I had looked at many testimonials on different forums but found the "Whatstove" review to be very honest and extremely helpful in helping us decide on the best stove for our house. There is such a choice of stoves on the market place today all claiming efficiency, high performance etc. which doesn't make the decision process any easier. We eventually chose a Charnwood Country 16B to heat our two story 4 bedroom house. It is an old stone walled country house with 10ft ceilings with 9 3ft*2ft double radiators. We run the stove approx. 20 hours per day as we have a 7 month and estimated heating with our oil burner would cost €4000 per year. The stove is fed with waste pallet wood which is dry and at least 12 months old. After emptying the ash pans in the morning the stove is full and lighting within 10 minutes and left burning on max for 1 hour after which the draft adjustment is set to between 0 and 1 for the remainder of the day. This maintains the house temp at a toasty 19°C - 20°C. This heats our water for showers in the morning and has the rads warm within 30 - 40 minutes. The Country 16b uses approx. one single wheeled, wheel barrow of pallet wood each day which is 1 hours work each Saturday, so also a saving on annual gym membership!! It is also a very attractive little stove which really suits the character of our old house. It is definitely the best purchase we have made in the past few years.

Stove expert replied: You get two lots of heat from burning wood if you cut it yourself and then use it in the stove, can't be bad! Nice comments about the site helping this customer to choose their stove.
