Review of Charnwood c4 stove
Disaster waiting to happen?
At less than a year old the internal back plate buckled. The pin to the handle is also loose and has to be knocked back frequently. The back plate is not covered by the guarantee but is, apparently, a result of the stove getting too hot!Another reviewer said that he had a thermometer fitted (never suggested to me) but it never reached a dangerous level and his back plate buckled too. If this is as rare as they suggest then surely it's more to do with the standard of backplate than those of us firing our stoves up as they are supposed to be used. The net result is that it costs in excess of £40 to replace. The bigger problem is - is this stove potentially dangerous? Reluctant to use it.
Stove expert replied: The stove is not dangerous if it is operated correctly, installed correctly etc. The flue may have a draw that is too strong for the stove and can be corrected with the addition of extra flue components, I would suggest getting in touch with your installer for further assistance and advice.
