Review of Burley Wakerley stove

Burley Wakerley 12 kw

I bought this stove approximately 4 months ago on the strength of Burley's claims regarding their "Fireball" technology and the fact that it had the largest unobscured view of the fire on the market. The stove was a relatively new product so I was a little nervous it may not do all that it said on the tin. My concerns were unfounded, in fact it is an absolute joy to own. As long as quality dry wood is used the fire is quickly established and when fully loaded produces a fantastic swirling display, visitors just stand and stare.

I have had few problems so far and all were related to damp or poor quality logs. On occasions the glass becomes blackened soon after lighting but this burns off once a hot fire is established. The glass usually stays crystal clear but can have a tendency to fog over as the fire dwindles before going out. The door handle can be difficult to close on occasions but generally it is a simple yet clever design.

I have little previous experience of wood stoves so my opinion is probably relatively unqualified, having said that I cannot see how any other brand of wood stove would have been any better and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Burley range to anyone.

Stove expert replied: When fire dying away discoloration will happen to the glass but this should be easy enough to wipe away with a damp cloth dipped in woodash.
