Review of Burley Hollywell 9105 stove

Disappointed

M Owen 8 years ago

Had the fire for a few years now.

The fire its self is easy to light, heats well when fully up to temperature, and the glass will stay clean if you have the air vet set half way. The fire does burn fuel quickly.

The problem I've had with the fire, is on windy days if you set the vent to three quarters closed so the burn rate slows down. The gas build up is so massive that the door expands releasing smoke into the room. Watched it happen!!! Bit scary thinking what would happen if it blew the door of its hinges. Fire & flue Was installed correctly and tested.

Spoke to burley technical department about my concern and was told they've never heard of anything happening like that before. So couldn't give me a answer, seems a bit of a waste of time calling them really.

Researched on line and found that on certain stoves you get what's called a blow back on windy days. I always keep the air vent on half way from now on.

Stove expert replied: Different fuels can help with this if your system is susceptible and you could try an alternative to see if this helps to overcome the problem on the windy days.
