Review of Burley Debdale 9104

Little ripper!

Gillian Thompson 10 years ago

Not all stoves are created equal, and relying on the headline heat output does not tell the full story. We were looking for a replacement for our old Firefox 4kw as it's performance at best was mediocre. After much research we chose the Burley Debdale based on it's efficiency rating of 90%. Surprisingly, the price was also very good. It was a straightforward swap-over, even the flue didn't need adjusting by more than an inch in height. But man, what a difference in heat! With just a few pieces of seasoned timber this stove really performs. We live in a house that already has a Broseley wood-fired oven for cooking and a Stratford TF90 boiler stove for heating/hot water so we were able to make a sound assessment in performance comparison. Aside from the great combustion performance, my only complaint has been noted in other Burley reviews, ie the poor wooden handle attachment method. Also, glass tends to 'frost' up when used for a few hours, though cleans off easily with proprietary glass cleaner when cold.

The Burley really impresses, I wish they made boiler stoves.

Stove expert replied: Glass can be cleaned by using a damp cloth dipped in woodash, if the timber is dry and well seasoned and you keep the airwash open there should be little need to do this very often.
