Review of Burley Brampton 9108 stove
Burley Brampton 8kw
Room size (m): 7.3 x 8.4 x 3.4
Building age: 200+ years, terrace Insulation: Good. Roof and floor insulated, one external wall with double glazed windows We spent a lot of time deciding between the Burley Brampton (8k) and Burley Wakerley (12k) models. Given that we have a large lounge, all the online calculators seemed to suggest between 12kw and 20kw, whereas our installer was recommending 8kw. Eventually we added up the KW of all the existing radiators in the lounge and based our calculations on those values. The radiators combined output 7.2kw, which can easily get the lounge to 25c and above. Given that the Brampton is 8kw nominal, and 11.7kw when pushed, we opted for the 8kw with the room seal kit, and it seems to be the correct decision as it heats the room easily with some left to heat adjacent areas. This stove loves wood with moisture less than 20%. Over that and you can feel the stove slumbering. I've tried a Hotties heat logs and whilst they provide lots of heat and last for about an hour per log, the flame isn't brilliant which is one of the features of this stove. You need to add some Ash as well, and the reason for this is to view the brilliant fireball effect on the stove. One comment we received was that it was 'mesmerising and relaxing'. Build of the stove is excellent, room seal kit is overpriced for what it is. Still early days yet, but no issues with the build. Easy to control, and although Burley say you don't need a stove thermometer, we use one just to make sure the flue is nice and hot. However, we don't go by the range specified on thermometer, as it doesn't take into account the stoves efficiency. At a flue temperature of 150c, our Brampton kicks out a serious amount of heat. Brilliant stove so far.- Be the first to comment
