Review of Bohemia 40 stove
Delighted noob to world of wood stoves.
I had an old fireplace, long since boarded over, that I longed to see in use again. Until I discovered the joy of woodstoves, I thought that unlikely. \nChoosing a stove was tricky - so many to consider - but the Mendip Stove and the Scanline were two favourites, as they seemed reasonably priced and modern looking. Then I decided to measure my builders opening. Whoops! Both those stoves would have clearly protruded from the front, not what was required. The same would apply to most Victorian semis I imagine, so don't be daft like me, measure first, then look.\n\nThe Bohemia stoves are sold on the premise of being wide and thin - just what I wanted - and so that is what I went for. I have found it to be a source of intense pleasure just to sit in front of, mesmerized by the flicker of flames and glow of heat. And it amazes me how much heat one log can throw out. A major plus with this stove is the wide door/firebox. I have never had to cut down a delivered log to fit in the stove - thankfully!\n\nThe stove is easy to light, very controllable, and when fully lit, throws out incredible heat (it's a convection stove, so you have to wait for full heat output). I did think Pevex were a bit mean charging more for a wooden handle, so you wouldn't have to wear that silly glove to open the door - but I now admit my mistake. The supplied chromed handle looks very stylish, and the glove is second nature now (you'd need one anyway to place a log in the hot firebox.)\n\nMy only gripe - the appalling photocopied instruction sheet, which is all that Pevex supply. It is faint and in such small type as to be almost unreadable. And it contains few instructions as to how to properly control the stove - I'm still not too sure when and how I should adjust the primary and secondary sliders - so if the Stove Expert would like to share his knowledge here, I'd welcome the comment.\n\nI highly recommend this stove.\n\n
Stove expert replied: This is a cheaper stove range and photocopied instructions may be one the compromises that are made to reflect the low prices charged. Good to see customer happy overall though.
