Review of Bohemia 40 stove

bohemia x40 inset stove

Tom Harries 13 years ago

After much searching and reading up I bought and installed a Bohemia x40 inset stove to fit in my existing fireplace. The old Montrose I had before sat out on a narrow hearth and looked a bit odd . After very careful measuring I fitted a register plate around the flue and placed it back into the chimney (good fit). I then experimented with different coals to burn with my logs, anthracite was no good but the cheaper lignite or brown coal in brickets is excellent with the wood. This really is an excellent stove it lights easily, it burns well, very controllable and will even burn with one log. At night after it has burnt down I put two pieces of the lignite on and this is still burning in the morning. I think if I was Bohemia I might experiment with a slightly larger grate part in the bottom of the stove so that it would be easier to riddle the ash. Finally I have no lining in my chimney and ours is a smallish farmhouse. There is no place to write a review on my x40 inset so I put it here with the standard 40.\n\n
