Review of Aga Ludlow stove

AGA LUDLOW SE DEFRA

Stephen Foster 10 years ago

After our friends purchased stoves we decided to make the leap and get one as well.

We didn't know anything about stoves or brands so went for a name we knew AGA also we wanted a mid priced stove We choose the LUDLOW SE since we live in a smoke controlled area.

We also we sold by the one year parts and FIVE year guarantee on the cast

We've used the stove since May this year and are generally very pleased with it.

The build quality is exceptionally well made

Its easy to removed the baffles to properly clean the stove

The area on top is ideal for the kettle or casserole pot

The Firebox is large fits Good sized logs

The air wash works very well with the correct fuel

Well seasoned logs and the fire gives out good heat throughout the house and stays warm overnight even though the fire has gone out

The only negatives I've found are

Being a defra stove you cannot close off all the air supply at the top

IF the stove starts burning too hot it's impossible to close off and dull Down which seems dangerous??!

All you can do is fully open the door and hope it cools Down (I'd prefer the top air inlet to close fully)

When you open the door be careful not to cut or scratch you arm on the other side of the handle its sharp.

The spinning valve is one notch which isn't as good as the aga little wenlocks spinning valve centre piece to control

Apart from this we love the stove
