Review of Aga Ludlow stove

A winter with a Ludlow

Malcolm Bailey 10 years ago

We have used this little gem for a full winter - needing to run central heating for only 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour to pre-heat the bedrooms at night. With access to free wood - the energy suppliers can suffer!! We do have problems with the door seal being loose - Aga should address this problem. With a good flue, no dust penetrates the room when cleaning or removing ash - dust particles rise up the chimney - (ensure the top vent is fully open). We need about 5 to 15 minutes in the morning to remove ash, clean and re-stock the log baskets. Once a week we give the interior a good vac to keep the air-flows clear. Writing this review in May, we are still lighting for about 2 hours in the evening, just to take away the chill. One problem - we will miss the welcoming flames in the summer when the unit hybernates! Hint - an eco fan on top of the unit does help to distribute convected heat. Looking forward to next winter!

Stove expert replied: The stove fans that sit on the top are very good at distributing the heat and are worth the outlay, highly recommended.
