Review of Aga Ludlow stove

Good Stove

Greg

This is our first stove and I am very pleased with it. It's an absolute breeze to clean and light and once I got the hang of things it seems pretty good for controllability, ie at first I couldn't see how I could get it to run only on the secondary and tertiary controls - it seemed to need lots of air from the spin valve which is supposed to be for coal etc. Now I realise it needs to develop a decent amount of heat before you can shut down the primary spin valve and control it on the other two.

Installation was pretty easy but not much help from the instruction manual, which is confusing and short on useful information. I hope that any dealings I may have with Aga will be better than my experience with their manual as they have a bad reputation for customer service. This is a great pity as this stove seems such an excellent product

Burning overnight is not an issue for us but a couple of times we've shut it down at about 11pm and then found the next morning it merely needed a few sticks of kindling, open the controls and it flames back to life,

albeit this is with some well seasoned ash logs which do stay in much longer than pine.

All in all very pleased, but as it is our first stove I have nothing to compare directly with it. We went for a middle priced stove, not a Morso or Clearview at twice or more the price, but would they have been twice as good? Time will tell but for now three months in very happy and would buy the same stove again.
