Frustrating stove

Des Powe 5 years ago

This stove looks beautiful but has has given us problems from the start. Had the company back after using only a few times due to door not closing. Burner is just two years old and is not frequently used yet door is not airtight...can see in between door seal and inside.

Air wash is poor and told to leave bottom drawer open to assist starting. Smoke smell and visibly enters room when opening door to replenish wood.

Could the design be improved by having an inner upper shield to retard smoke leaving the burner?

Stove expert replied: There are door adjustment guidance that has been sent to you which should overcome this issue. Regarding the problems with the smoke coming back into the room and the flue draw, was this measured at the time of installation? It is common that to get a stove started, the door is left slightly ajar, which aids the gases out of the firebox until the flue is warmed. What overall height is the flue? This ideally should be 4.5mtrs. Refer to the manual for more guidance. Have you an airbrick in the room? Have you an anti downdraft cowl on the flue? There can be many reasons why a stove may appear to be problematic and mostly they are to do with the installation and not the stove itself. Further investigation is recommended.
