vent holes on ACR NEO P1

Having major problem with keeping stove going unless on full vent plus glass wash is very poor glass always black, flue tested and cleaned all fine, burning dry hardwood, manufacture no help at all, looking at bottom under ash tray there is one vent hole towards the back controlled by the quadrant on the front of fire, there is also a hole at the front under the ash tray but blocked with a gasket does anybody know if this hole should be open giving two vent holes on the bottom controlled by the quadrant I have had the fire several months and had enough of it
