Review of Aarrow Ecoburn 7 stove

Good efficient stove

John Syddall 12 years ago

I bought this stove to replace a Nestor Martin 13 in May 2010 which had sadly failed to live up to expectation. The replacement needed to be a true multifuel stove as I needed to burn solid fuel overnight to air our split level property and ideally have a 125mm flue to avoid any adaptation to stove and flue piping. \nAfter some research inclusive of reading other reviews on this site I decided on the Ecoburn 7 and have not been disappointed.\nThe stove is of a simple steel design, nicely finished. Internally it has full width riddling bars with external lever for the job, beware any stove that does not have this facility, they simply do not function as proper multifuel stove.\nUpon installation I found that even with the controls fully closed the draw was excessive and installed a flue pipe damper which cured the problem. The stove is lined with vermiculite blocks (4) and after a hard winters use last year I replaced the rear 2 - Tip: Buy sheet vermaiculite and cut to size, several coal merchants stock these and over the years you will save a fortune. The stove itself is easy to dismantle and replace spare parts if you should need to do this.\nThe operation of the stove is excellent, good to light, adjust the controls, burns overnight easily and has an efficient airwash. We have oil fired central heating also but rarely have need to use this.\nAny gripes? only one minor problem in my view is the shelf behind the door in front of the fuel retainer bars ideally should slope back toward the ashpan as ash tends to collect there - but that is a minor niggle.\nAltogether a good, efficient and aesthetic product which I would not hesitate to recommend.\n\n

Stove expert replied: Great review of this reasonably priced stove. British made and stylish to look at.
