Review of Westfire 16 stove

Westfire 16

Bryan Matthew 14 years ago

With oil prices increasing at an alarming rate last winter, we fitted the Westfire to help reduce our oil consumption. Fitting the stove to a kitchen of around 100 cubic metres, reduced oil usage by 50%.

The stove alone can heat this room comfortably to 25 deg centigrade, quicker than water filled radiators.

Open the ash pan drawer, as stated in the instructions, to light it and it lights fine.

Use dry wood and the doors stay clean, only going slightly black as the wood burns out when the air is closed down. A quick rub with a damp newspaper and some ash soon removes any soiling of the glass next day.

I bought the coal pan, but doubt I will ever use it, it burns well with wood.
