Review of Stratford TF90 stove

Frustrating

Jon

An outwardly well thought out product, nice and minimalist, does everything well, albeit not doing quite as much as it promises for heating radiators. But boiler has just failed after 5 years and thus a major decision coming up... Factory suggested getting a mobile welder.. But what happens if it happens again? Surely the bad reviews rising on this factor should make them look to a redesign here?

The finish has come off the top a bit but other than a bit of surface rust there, it still looks quite smart. Door has sagged a bit. Has anyone else rewelded one of these and been pleased with the result, or do you live in fear..?

How long should a boiler last? I can't honestly say I'd want another one unless heavily discounted in order to fit the exact same pipe work in the house!

Stove expert replied: Welding a small patch in a boiler stove has been undertaken successfully and longevity of the stove is extended. Trying to find welders who are prepared to undertake this work on site is a big factor. Premature failure can normally be linked to some aspect either of the installation, fuel used or the way the boiler is operated and further investigation into the failure is advised. This model has been superseeded by the Ecoboilers that have internal baffles for a quicker heat up time. As with many manufacturers innovation and improvement are an ongoing process.
