Review of Stovax Riva 50 stove

A wood burning stove not fit for purpose

Stefan Phillips 2 years ago

we had the fireplace fitted 7 years ago and the chimney sweep pointed out that the steel in the roof had cracked.

We had the fireplace company come out and check and they condemned the unit saying that it was not safe to use and that we had over fired the unit. This I strongly disagreed with as we always have the air flow on minimum and don''t over fill otherwise the room would get too hot.

Infrequent use and annual checks by the "professionals" we were very disappointed and the was forward was to buy an exact replacement for a little over £3k.

If this unit was made in China then I would understand why the construction is so flimsy.

Our recommendation is not to buy one of these and carefully check what is on the market and its durability. Apart from this we were advised that this unit is no longer available and that there are only a few left for sale. What a surprise!
