Review of Saey Scope stove

Saey Scope

Very attractive modern stove. Side loading door works well and avoids getting smoke in the room. Huge heat output, and the heavy cast construction holds the heat well. With its big glass window it is a pleasure to sit and watch - the closest thing to an open fire. It also takes good big logs. The external air intake works well. I like it as it lives in a new modern sun lounge. It lights reasonably well, but there are better. The paintwork finish has discoloured more than expected and i have had to respray the top - the good thing is that a matching spray paint is easily available from Stoves-on-line. The fireproof rope sealant has not been terribly robust - must try and get some new stuff. The manual that comes with it is poor. A very poor translation from the German, and it does not even explain or tell you what the lighting vent is for! The biggest issue I have with it is that when you turn it down low (i.e. max closure of top vent) the front glass gets very dirty and it is a 15 minute job to clear it. Annoying. Even with the vents fully closed this stove really does not burn overnight. So in summary, attractive big stove with a great output, but operationally so-so.
