Review of Newbourne 35FS stove
Newbourne 35FS stove
Supplied and fitted very efficiently by local suppliers to me.Very smart unembellished stove, both classic and contemporary in design or style. A lot easier when it comes to repolishing!! Door closing and opening mechanism looks good, is easy to use, and shuts securely and evenly, with a soft click. Primary air and secondary air wash systems are both clear and easy to use and work well. Early days yet, but burns (we use solid fuel, Phurnacite) cleanly and evenly, and even when damped right down, the glass keeps clean and clear. The fire has no riddling system for the ash, so this has to be done with an open door. Modern fires seem to have relatively small ash pans, which can be irritating if clearing out when the fire has been left for perhaps a w/e., but this one''s ash pan is slightly bigger or deeper than some others. How it works out, I've yet to see. Overall it looks well made, and so far I''m very pleased. It supplies more than enough heat, even when shut down in our small sitting room (12x 12 feet) and would keep a larger room perfectly warm without any trouble.
Stove expert replied: It is not advisable to leave ash in an ash pan to build up as it can shorten the life of the internal parts, this should be removed regularly, twice a day if kept in 24hrs and once a day if only lit for part of the time.
