Review of Morso 06 stove

And it burns burns burns

Ian Gray 9 years ago

Had it six weeks now and I am starting to get to grips with it. I have a new build house and it is really well insulated so this was a luxury buy not a necessity. Due to being a new house there was no chimney, so flu cost's were north of the £1k mark, ouch. My biggest complaint would be the smell when it gets really hot. It leaves a funny odour, there is a CO alarm and heat alarm in the room its installed in, is it because its steel? I didn't realise the fuel you burn has such an effect on performance. I started off burning soft wood that wasn't seasoned (did it once) and thought why is the wood leaking..!! Bit of research and only straw like clumps of hard wood go in or fire logs made from compressed saw dust. Easy to light and maintain, also really easy to set the heat alarm off.

Stove expert replied: The curing process will take a few firings and should be built up in heat intensity, once cured there should be no smell that caused offence. Perhaps get the flue checked to insure correct clearances have been allowed for.
