Review of Merlin Midline stove
This will be our 3rd year running the merlin stove so I feel I''m in a better position to leave an objective review. Firstly it replaced our again ludlow (which was an excellent stove). I won''t review the cosmetic appearance of the merlin as that is one aspect of stove selection which is highly individual. What I will say is that the merlin stove has performed excellently, it has a huge firebox which you can load up shutdown and walk away from for hours. The 2 air controls are responsive and if the bottom slider is left over a quarter open will keep the glass clean. Our stove has been in since the beginning of the month (November) and will remain that way probably until March. It burns beautifully over night on stay bright briquettes and a piece of wood. Of course the glass soots up overnight but we open it up in the morning and it self cleans. Output is good for a stove of this size and we''ve just invested in a ecofan to try and increase warm air flow (the jury is still out on that one).Only negative we''ve had has been the handle it got a bit wobbley but we whipped it off and added another washer and all movement had gone (literally a 2 minute job) Anyway we''ve not been disappointed, and I would be happy to recommend. the only question I''ve tried to find answered is where the stoves are manufactured? They''re based in Hereford but that doesn''t mean a lot. Hope this heles.
Stove expert replied: Do let the stove out at least once a month and clean thoroughly to ensure that the flue way remain clear of debris and is not restricted in any way. Good comments.
