Review of Merlin Classic stove

Very happy stove owner

The Merlin classic is our 2nd stove. Previously we had a Stovax fitted in our old house and when we moved we wanted another stove as the focal point / heat source of our living area. We did a lot of research and into larger stoves and were initially looking at the Charnwood Island III, and a couple of the Clearview models but in the end we took the plunge and decided to go with the lesser known Merlin Classic. Our decision was based largely around the look of the stove (we wanted something simple, with a spacious view of the wood), and the enthusiasm of the stockists we spoke to when phoning around to find a stove to look at and purchase.

We have now been using the stove for about 4 months and are completely satisfied with it. The build quality is excellent. It lights very easily, heats up in a reasonable amount of time, kicks out a lot of heat once it is going, and burns wood efficiently once it’s up and running and then closed down. The firebox is large and as long as the wood is kept near the back away from the glass the glass remains clean. It also looks very nice if that is your taste – it’s not as traditional as some of the stoves previously mentioned, nor ultra modern like some of the Scandinavian brands. It’s just a simple clean stove that does what a stove needs to do.

Overall this is an excellent stove and if you are looking for something with this output level don’t be put off by the fact that the brand is not as well known as other brands. It's an excellent stove.
