Review of Little Wenlock stove

Loved for 25 years!

Snug Customer

I had a Mk2 Little Wenlock installed as a room heater when I first moved in and it has kept me snug for 25 winters! I mainly burn smokeless solid fuel, with very occasional seasoned wood when available from the garden. With solid fuel I find it easy to keep in at night and by refuelling and emptying the ashtray twice a day, often keep it going for weeks at a time! It would be hard to achieve this with wood due to the small size of the firebox but this makes it efficient when using solid fuel. I use about 50kg a week to keep in a good fire 24/. It is a brilliant little fire and I would recommend it to anyone. In 25 yrs I have replaced the circular grate once, a couple of firebricks and the glass only once so it is built to last and still looks as great today as it did the day it was installed. My only slight complaint is that on this early model, the airwash does not really work terribly well but a quick wipe with a damp cloth each day or so keeps the glass clear. I'm sure this aspect has been improved on more recent models and it is a tiny point on such a little gem of a stove.
