Review of Little Wenlock stove
Disappointed!
We bought our first ever wood burner (Little Wenlock) last year. The installer told us that in a small room such as ours (5m x 5m) this would be more than sufficient to heat the room. The stove takes a good couple of hours to heat up, and then we are still in thick cardigans with the door shut and still have to put the central heating on in the room (I'm not expecting this little stove to heat the house, but the room would be nice). Family and friends who have wood burners have all commented that it doesn't draw very well, is difficult to keep lit, and produces very little heat.
We had the installer out once last year to check the secondary control. They said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I have just read some of the reviews on this page, and will now go away and try emptying all the ash from the grate before each light, and I will also try placing the logs end to glass rather than the other way round. Will this really make all the difference? Is there anything else I can do to help make this stove functional as opposed to just visual? We burn just wood and I don't think we have the airwash version.Stove expert replied: I would suggest that you get the flue draw measured as this may be why you are so disappointed. Was the flue lined on installation? Perhaps also try a smokeless fuel as this has a higher calourific value and may improve the heat output.
