  • jotul 350 practical, efficient & easy to use.

I have had the jotul 350 for 6 yrs now (see my brothers review below). It is in quite a big living room and I have a stainless liner (7mtrs). To say it's clean burning is an understatement -
there's only a little smoke out the chimney when newly lit otherwise there's never any smoke seen. The glass is always clean which is impressive as it's an intermittent type stove. Very easy to control and throws out the heat as it's a convector type. It's wife proof as she forgets to shut down the air once it's up to temp, but the internal plates are vermiculite which is 'bullet proof' and I have only had to replace the 3 internal vermiculite plates this year which was relatively cheap. It takes the bigger logs that have been impossible to split. It is brilliant at over night burning - this is done by keeping it at normal i.e. not shutting down the air intake. Next day it's just a case of sticking another log on. My only criticism is - because it's a big stove it does use a lot of wood but worth it due to the great performance.

Stove expert replied: You only get out of a stove what you put in and if the firebox is big then it stands to reason that you will use a lot of wood to keep it going but all that pleasure. Well worth it!!

  • High capacity -great for a large area

We had this stove installed in a house in France 5 years ago. Therefore it is difficult to make a price comparison as choice has increased significantly since then. It heats a large 55 sq meter
living room extremely well even when it is minus 10 outside. When working to full capacity it even heats adjacent bedroom if doors are left ajar. It needs to work fairly high in order to keep the glass door clean. It lights easily and warms up rapidly. We had an initial problem with the upper air control lever which broke off and had to be replaced-it is still rather stiff to manoeuver. Getting it to stay in overnight when it is windy is a bit of an art form.

  • Perfect for a bigger room

I owned this stove for 5 months, but it was too powerful for our 87m2 living room, so I sold it to my brother who has a huge living room. It is excellant, burns clean, is always still going
in the morning and takes a large log. Very easy to use and really throws out the heat, excellant efficiency. Would definately reccomend it, but for larger rooms or poorly insulated houses!
