Review of Invicta Modena stove

A thumper of a stove!

Sooooo, I live in France and burn only oak, and I know most fires would perform well with this as its only fuel. The Modena, however, with its side grills that aid the heat convection works very well indeed. The big window shows the flames off very well, the fire takes 50cm logs, it has a simple handle that stays cool. It is easy to clean, looks the part (I have the ivory-coloured spray finish).

I use about ten big logs a day in a semi-well insulated house and that's enough to keep us toasty. Wood cost comes to about £5 per day which isn't bad for a 200sqm house. And remember, the heat thrown out of wood burners is long-wave heat which the body just loves, unlike short-wave heat from radiators and the like, where you have to go and stand against them to get warm.

All in all I do recommend this Invicta stove, so much so that I have just bought another Invicta, the Antaya / Itaya, which I will review soon.

All the best to you all...and remember, stop burning wood that isn't dry, is green or resinous and come on all you people who don't clean the glass...if you can't see the flames you're just missing out.
