Review of Hunter Herald 80b boiler stove

My hunter 80B stove is leaking on the inside

Neil Walker 4 years ago

I have a leaking Hunter 80B wood burning stove how long should they last. I looked after the product Very well its not my fault it's sprung a leak. These stoves are not cheep and should last a lot of years. Will have to see what happens in the near future. I'm trying to sort it out.

Stove expert replied: Boiler stoves can fail prematurely for many reasons and you have not given the age of this product. They must be installed as per the manufacturers recommendations. Is the system dosed with a rust inhibitor? What fuel are you using? (wood needs to be dry and seasoned with a moisture content of less than 20%) Has there been cold water corrosion protection added to the system? Is the stove working 24/7? Do you give the stove short periods of fast burn every day? Is this boiler the correct size for the system it is driving? The list can go on. Usually there are factors that can be identified as contributors to premature failure if the boiler is only a few years old.
