Review of Franco belge Savoy Elegance - MKII

Nice in Red!!!

Ted Flemming 11 years ago

We replaced a jetmaster open fire with this stove about 8 months ago due to a chimney fire, relined chimney and a reduced flue size. We loved the jetmaster for the look and feel of an open fire and had worried the stove wouldn't, be as good. Oh my how we were wrong!

The stove pumps the heat out like never before. With seasoned wood, we find no issues in lighting the fire and with it damped down and loaded well before bed, we come down to a warm room in the morning with embers to relight the next days fire.

The heat from the jetmaster was significantly less that this stove, with the heat output of the stove we were initially concerned that we'd gone too high in terms if the output, but we've now entered colder weeks and find it heats the whole ground floor with a blanket of warmth.

We chose the red enamel, which may not be to some peoples taste, but we love it. The enamel darkens as it gets hot. The top almost goes black at 1st, with a dark red body appearing from the top down. You know when the fires been lit for a while, as the colour of the feet match to top!

All in all we are very pleased with this stove and have yet to turn the heating on in the evenings. Our plan is to use this stove as our primary heat source in the evenings. Something our old fire would never have been able to do.

Stove expert replied: Enamel stoves change colour when being used and this is quite normal but customers can find this alarming if not prepared for it. Nice comments.
