Review of Esse Montrose stove

montrose mk1 65 years old

MICK WHITE 6 years ago

I have a old montrose mk1 stove its about 65 years old. 15 years ago I cut & put in new fire bricks & a 1 piece glass to replace the 6 thin strips : This stove must be the best ever made, all solid cast iron. It is multifuel and still gets very hot and is still in the following morning. It is always lit 7 days & 16 hrs plus per day : I have just drilled a small 4mm hole in the top of the door to create an air wash & it works perfectly and now have clean glass for the first time in years: the handle gets too hot so I fitted a 50mm long spring and I can now hold it anytime as it stays cool :

Stove expert replied: Great review for this old stove and still going strong, amazing.
