Review of Dunsley Highlander 5 stove

Response to burning problems

K Jefferson

Just a quick respose to wood burning problem. If I light my Environ 5 , from cold, with both air controls fully open I will have a roaring fire within 10 mins, burning with yellow flames. I then start to progressively close the air controls leaving the air wash as the last to close or leave slightly ajar. Within 20 mins from lighting I have glowing read embers. I refill when the fire dies down. As mentioned before I have a ready supply of timber from my friendly timber yard ( it got better this week ...I can take all their 4 foot X 10cmX 10cm soft wood pallet bases which are nail free). I then repeat the process ie open up both vents for 10-15 mins then progresively close down after refuelling. I do split the timber after sawing into short chunks. Needless to say I consume a lot of this free soft wood. Smokeless fuel is far less work. Three loads last from early evening to the next morning. Hope this helps
