Review of Dovre 350 CB

Dovre 350 CB

The Dovre 350CB is a 6KW (2 - 8 KW) woodstove with an efficiency of 77%.

The cast iron construction is robust and weights 95 Kg.

The reason we chose for this stove was the timeless appearance, the open view to the fire and the 125mm flue output as we have a 125mm liner in our chimney.

We bought this stove 12 years ago and have been very satisfied wit its performance.

After 12 years of burning nearly every evening (in the colder seasons) all parts were still original, we even didn't need to change the liners or the rope.

It starts easily to burn and primary and secondary burning can be regulated separately.

In my experience, once warm, it burns best with either primary inlet wide open and secondary about 25% open or vice versa, up to your preferences.

Despite it's measures it can handle quite big chunks of wood, officially 33cm but put in diagonally you can add another 5cm.

I mostly used 1 block of wood at the time and it burnt well when dry enough.

When I went to the dealer last year for a somewhat bigger woodstove to heat our separate kitchen as well, I saw it's more common now to take 2 or 3 smaller logs instead of one big chunk.

I do this nowadays with our new stove (Dovre Tai 45WD) which I will review separately.

When you look at the dust particles figures these are very low (10 mg/Nm³) and I saw this back when cleaning the chimney. Only a handful of grey dust came down and after some years I decided to let the chimney be cleaned only every 2 years. No problem with this stove

Stove expert replied: After 12 years I would expect that the rope seals do need to be replaced as they become firm / rigid and less able to seal properly. Wood with a diameter of no more that 100mm are recommended for getting effective burning. It would still be advisable to have the flue system swept annually with a monthly clean through to insure that the air way is clear from any debris.
