Clock very smoky when the door is open

We purchased a clock stove on its looks big mistakes because it's performance is poor when you open the door to reload with wood smoke pores into the room. I've tried turning the vents but still very smoky so wouldn't recommend. The design in poor and the manufacture hasn't been helpful.
