Review of Charnwood C 5 stove

C5 - 1935 front living room

Installed the Charnwood C-5 after lots of research and recommendation from a number of local dealers.

The stove looks great and build quality is fantastic.

The problem I have is the size of the fire box with the multi fuel grate fitted.

I'm removing the grate to see if it improves.

I barely have room to light a decent fire and I'm unable to add standard logs from supplier without cutting them.

If I chop the wood to slightly larger than kindling I get great fire and air control works however anything slightly bigger requires the air flow set to boost otherwise it just goes out.

Using smokeless coal is ok and don't have much of a problem however with full firebox and airflow set to boost I can only get 250c out of it and struggle to heat room on freezing day ( 12ft x 11.5ft)
