Review of Tiger stove
Tiger Stove - Brilliant VFM!
Have had the Tiger stove for 3 years now and it is ideal for a medium to large sized room. We have a large Victorian stone-built proerty which was difficult to heat previously. The living room is approx 18ft x 13ft with 10ft high ceiling and the Tiger heats this room well. It also heats the upstairs of the building if we leave the living room door open; it really has transformed the warmth of our house and has reduced heating costs dramatically. The quality of design & construction is good, although do not buy this stove if you are expecting it to stay in overnight whilst burning wood. It is possible to keep it in overnight with wood, but only with hardwood and only with the firebox piled high with fuel. There is no problem keeping it in for 10 hours with smokeless fuel. I have read reviews stating that controllability of this stove is poor. I have not found this to be the case. It is vital that all seals (glass & door) are fitted correctly and that the door is 100% airtight. If this is the case, there is no problem controlling this fire. The airwash works well and the glass stays clean as long as the fire is not burning unseasoned wood and is not operated on 'minimum' for long periods. The door handle can be a little awkward, take care not to touch the bit which is not coiled as it can burn. You get used to this after a very short period of time. I have also read reviews stating that smoke comes out when the door is opened. This does not happen with our stove and I can only assume that people who have experienced this do not have an adequate flue. All in all, for the money, I cannot fault this great little stove.
