Review of Hunter Herald 14 stove

hunter herald 14 stove boiler

Mike Ashton 14 years ago

I am going to shatter all your illusions. We used to have an Aarrow Hamlet heating the water etc. This came to the end of it's boiler life so we put it in the other room just as a room heater and not a boiler. We bought the Hunter 2 years ago to replace it and it is the biggest waste of steel since the Titanic. The riddleing mechanism is rubbish, the depth of the fire box is nowhere near enough and if a windy bedtime sees the wind drop during the night the thing is out by breakfast. I am looking to replace it because it so bad, the next one will have thermostatic control for starters. A fire box you can get at least 2 logs in. Anyone looking at the rest of these reviews would surmise that the Hunters were good stoves, but the writers of them have not had an Aarrow Hamlet to compare them with. If I could afford to, I would give it away, but it is definitely going. This is of course only my opinion, but thoroughly examine the stove before you buy which ever one you choose.
